Yep, that number is smaller than my trapdoorless 54KHK...

Yes, the "D" indicates a set of post 57 KH cases that have been factory moded to recieve the Sportster trap door for sake of smaller inventory.

There was another D set of cases ealier on eBay, unground pad, factory numbers but no letters in it!!!

I like the "test" "D" at the 3 o clock position of the timing plug hole.

Those pictured numbers aren't stock K and subsequent early ironhead numbers, which don't seem to have such pronounced serifs?
