Non-stock speedometer solutions?

The '55 KHK project has had a countershaft strengthening modification that prevents the use of the stock speedo drive setup.

Does anyone have any period-looking ideas for getting around this, such as using a later-model wheel-mounted drive or similar?

What comes to my mind, is a FXR style front wheel driven speedo. I don't know how you would adapt it to your wheel though. Pa

I did a similar mod to my KHK years ago. I swapped out the complete front end to one with the speedo drive off the front wheel. It looked good and worked out great. Tach drive was off the F-M magneto base with dual mount speedo & tach from early 60's CH.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have collected the parts for the wheel-driven speedo drive and will toy around with them to see if they can be made to work.

I have also found a semi-classic looking electronic speedo which may work. I will post updates when I have this resolved!
There's a really nice tach with built in speedo available from motogadget, but it isn't cheap! I'll be going with a simpler unit for this bike.
