My KH motor came with a K model primary cover, that is too narrow for the KH 7 plate clutch. It has a casting #34950-52 with a capital E above it. I have seen covers with casting #34950-52A on them. Is this the casting number for the wider KH primary cover? Anybody know the correct casting number? I already have the part numbers for both the early and later covers.

Thanks,

David

Hi, dlm32...

Yes, 52/53 K models only have a 5 + 5 plate clutch. This was updated for the torquier KH to 7 + 7, hence a wider primary cover.

Best way to identify them if you can't measure them or look for the casting number is to look at the tranny oil level plug: K ones don't have one, it was part of the drain plug underneath the gear box. KH ones have it, 1/4 screw with 7/16 spanner, just in front of the relief for the foot peg. KH are also plain, unlike similar sized Sportster ones, but these have the "Sportster" script cast in...

Thanks Patrick,

You came through again! I take it this is the style I need for the KH?
