Joe rode Triumphs that belonged to Tim Whitham in 62 and 63. I was there for both races. I remembered he was running away with the main both years and DNF'ed. I saw him last night at our weekly get together and asked him about the picture. He said one year he had a flat and the other an oil line hose came off and tied up the motor. He said they used the 21's because they had the same contact patch area as the 19's but were a lighter wheel assembly which helped stability on the miles.

Mike,
My friend David has been getting some of Joe's old race posters reproduced for him. He kept a lot of his trophies but didn't save posters.
