Ford Flathead bike w/S&S super G

Hi, I'm running a super G on a flathead ford V8, in my present bike project. Didn't have room under the tank for the stromberg 97, so i made an adaptor for the super G i found on ebay. Had my doubts at first, but the S&S was simple and easy to tune. The old flatty (1937 221cid) starts instantly and runs strong and super smooth with
absolutely no hesitation or dead spots, pretty darn great for such a weird mis-application through a homemade manifold adaptor that is a bit to the crude side! http://www.vinmoto.org/gallery/v/VinMot ... l/1937+v8/

Love those flatheads. The 60 is hard to kill. I drove a Simca with the 60 ford flathead in the 60's. I bought it for the motor. Drove it on a nonstop 1200 mile trip to Daytona when I was a teenager and didn't do anything but put gas in it. [ SIMCA VEDETTE "Beaulieu". The Vedette featured a side valve V8 motor with a cubic capacity of 2351 c.c. producing 84 B.H.P] Mine was a 1958 with a column shifted 3 speed.

I thought the 60 was the horsepower. I'm surprised the Vedette went to america?

Hey all, The flatty bike handles like a dream! way better than i had hoped for. Had to preload the fork springs after going heavier with them, rides nice for a rigid, the steering is light for the size. My engine is the 221 cid 85 H.P.. The V8 60 used
by Honest Charley was made from 1937 - 40 and is a lot smaller at 136 cid. The Honest Charlie bike is actually made by Dale Olson in Maple Grove Illinois, who does some incredible work. The French military used a ford flathead made by simca up until 1988, and a warehouse full of blocks waiting to be scrapped was discovered and shipped back to the states by a parts dealer a few years back, and they are being sold by a few flathead specialists.

Where would the SATISFACTION be in that? Heck, you can buy a '36 Knucklehead also.

Totaly agree, I build what i ride, buying a ready to go bike might be the way to go for some, and i respect that. I grew up on the farm without the benefit of ample money and soon learned that hard work and self challenges could result in the satisfaction of building and learning. Skills and knowledge are the tools that can't be lost or stolen.

I also saw a V-12 Lincoln powered bike. Probably made by the same guy that made the V8 60's.
