SWING ARM INTERCHANGEABILITY

I have a 1976 Sportster,are any of the later swing arms interchangeable ? Thanks for looking.

They changed the frames in '77 on the XLCR"S and in '79 un the XL's. Tswing arm might actually bolt up,but the shock mounts will be different. I have a '80 frame on my XR Bonneville racer,I could look in a few days to see if the early swing arm will bolt up. On Big Twins the disc brake swing arm is a direct bolt-in swap for the drum brake swing arms, up to at least '84.

I just checked today,and the swingarms will interchange,as I stated you might have some shock problems,depending on your application; some thought about struts might be in order

Thanks Breski for the input.I just picked up this Sportster and really am more familiar with old stuff . I was thinking about lowering the rear a little and adding disc brakes. By the way good luck on that Super Magnum,I too have thought about taking the magnum build up to the next level like your doing.
