Re: SWING ARM INTERCHANGEABILITY

They changed the frames in '77 on the XLCR"S and in '79 un the XL's. Tswing arm might actually bolt up,but the shock mounts will be different. I have a '80 frame on my XR Bonneville racer,I could look in a few days to see if the early swing arm will bolt up. On Big Twins the disc brake swing arm is a direct bolt-in swap for the drum brake swing arms, up to at least '84.

I just checked today, and the swingarms will interchange,as I stated you might have some shock problems, depending on your application; some thought about struts might be in order

Re: SWING ARM INTERCHANGEABILITY

Thanks Breski for the input.I just picked up this Sportster and really am more familiar with old stuff . I was thinking about lowering the rear a little and adding disc brakes. By the way good luck on that Super Magnum,I too have thought about taking the magnum build up to the next level like your doing. Really looking forward to your project, put in lots of pictures.Again ,Thanks so much for the help .appreciate it. :D :D
