I just picked up a basket case 73 FX, Front two vin numbers are 2C and last two are H3, frame and engine match. The frame has the bracket for the hydraulic rear drum brake lines? Were all FX's Banana brake in 73? I'll look the frame over more tomorrow but I believe their is also a BB on the top frame motormount. Numbers look good to my eyes, does this sound like a 73 FX frame? It has the square tube swingarm, not the round one.

Neil74,being that I had a 73 Superglide and as best as I can remember all 73's had rear disic brakes. That was one of one of the big so called new improvements that the factory advertised that year.I can't really say about the frame it sounds correct ,the 73 was the first year for the square swing arm and was designed to accomodate the disic brake. :D :D

Thanks for the reply, I looked at the frame and the BB is actually B3 on the top motor mount. I assumed that the square swingarm would be correct for a 73 because of the disc brakes being introduced. I am wondering about the bracket on the rear primary side of the frame, that was used to connect the rear rubber brakeline to the solid line that went to the master cylinder. Is this an early frame that was left over and set up to run disc instead of juice brakes? When did they stop putting this bracket that is un needed on the frames?

You have a correct frame. My 73 FX frame is dated H2, and has the drum brake nerd to the rear of the primary. The MoCo was using up old frames, some of the early ones also had no rubber grommet on the rear chain guard mount.
