Front safety guard

I'm in the process of putting a Bobbed ' 65 back to stock, my dilemma is does the front safety guard mount on the outside or inside of the brake lever / shift bracket ? The parts manual is unclear and doesn't show a needed spacer on the brake side if mounted on the inside, were safety guards an option ? thanks, Tim

The safety guards always mount between the brake/shifter brackets and the footboard studs. Never behind the brackets. All models are that way from the '30s up. If the safety guard is not used a spacer goes on the stud before it is inserted into the bracket.

Got it, wasn't sure if that changed with juice brakes, so then the safety guard does take place of the spacer between the master cylinder and bracket, thanks, Tim
