Timer wire setup

Has anybody any tips on setting up the control wire to the timer?
Timer turns quite freely and the wire is smooth but marry the two together and I can only get half retard. I can rotate it the rest of the way by hand. I'm using the plastic coated outer cable.
Any suggestions gratefully received as I've been messing about with this all day with no progress.

Just guessing but it sounds like you need to inspect the grip for travel. Pa

Is the outer cable clamped properly? If not it can flex enough to do what you describe.

All sorted now thanks. The plunger was a bit graunched so cleaned that up which helped. Of course you can only clamp the wire on full retard, so I loosened the screw enough to pull the wire through set it up on full advance then rotated it using the spiral and turning the timer by hand then tightened the screw...and it worked. These plastic cables are not very forgiving, too much flex in them. It's taken a day & a bit but I do like to have it working correctly.
