I will go out and take a close look and see if there is a 4th number.
But I am quite shure that "my" number is 38LE101...
Do you think it is a production number series or is it actually roling numbers 1001-1002-1003 etc?
Is there anyone who has some other numbers?
Thanks a lot Chris!
Always thought the combination was as left the factory.
Now I know it's an earlier chassis.
But no number whatsoever in the tub..
Righthand with metal door.
Anybody with some more info to this number?
Thanks in advance
Thanks again Chris!
Palmer talks about special order tubs with doors...
maybe the reason off no number in the tub?
The 1933 tubs are more in the Goulding lines look, with the pointed front...
This is a as '36-'67 style tub, but with a door.
Definitly not homemade!
I am sure that if you look carefully on the floor pan you will find two small holes. This is where the serial number tag was affixed. Sometimes on the flat bottom under the seat and sometines on the flat side of the hump.
I found 2 holes± 4" apart and 3/16"big on the bottom off the tub, next to the door....
But there is a reïnforcement running in between...maybe added later...
Thanks Chris, those are probably the holes you mentioned...but alas, no plate.
I found the fourth digit on my sidecar.
My number is 38LE-2101.
Lucky me, a guy with matching engine cases and a VIN that seems to be original.
I wonder if there is someway to identify if my VIN number is originally sold with the sidecar?
Is there any deliverance dokumentaion available from 38?....
That bike was originally sold with a sidecar. The long time owner had your bike and another for spares. They had sequential serial numbers. The bike was put together from the best pieces of he two. So there is no way to know which engine had that particular sidecar frame.
