I started on my big Fathead project some time ago. Collected parts when I could afford them and when they were avalible. The lower end has been done for some time. I just got the cylinders and pistons back from machine work and was checking clearences, about to assemble the upper end. I found that the pistons hit the flywheels before the engine got to B.D.C. and at T.D.C. the pistons were almost 1/2" from the top of the cylinders. I looked up an earlier post from May 06, on rod length. It states that the big twin O.H.V. rod length is 7.46875" and the S.V. length is 7.90625" . I got the flywheels and rods assembled from Teds. Part # is 10-1013, pistons are #11-408. Both look like the correct #s. Could it be that they assembled them with O.H.V. rods instead of S.V.?

Yes , I've refused a set like that 2years ago.
It's probably still circulating...or they continue making them!

Just wanted to let you know that Vtwin did make the flywheel/rod set good.
It took a while but the replacement set came in this week.

make it good?

So, you got an apology, the cost of all letters and phone calls, the shipping in both directions, and what your job pays you per hour for the time you spent?

The only way Tedd can make things better would be to leave the planet.

I guess I am joining the Vtwin bashing club now!!!
I reported in April that they did make the flywheel/rod set good. Let me clarify that. They did ship another set. I just got around to checking them out good before installing them is the cases. They do appear to have the correct rods but the rod side clearence is at about .045" and the wrist pin clearence is about .005". That is as far as I got before putting them back in the box. It is good that they supply all that they do but if it is not going to be quality what is the need?
