46 ul gas tank

I have a 46 UL gas tank that has a problem with right side outlet nipple.
It no longer has the taper to seal with the gas line but instead has had the taper filed off down to the 1st thread.
I want to run the correct gas line but can't seem to think of a way to repair it.
Does anyone know if this bung is available anywhere and I could replace what is there or any other advice.

you could machine down the petcock fitting from a left side to weld into the right or braze up the fitting and redrill and hand file it back to taper or use a tool likes used to cut the top of a valve guide shorter

Im gonna try to work with a left side fitting as 100 inch scoot suggested.I'll let you know how it worked.

You usually see them filed off that way after the taper was damaged from over tightening. the extra room allowed a piece of rubber hose to be slid over the line after most of the old flare was ground away so that the hose would swell over the old flare to seal on the fitting and crush to the tube.

I was able to repair my right side tank with a knuckle head oil line fitting that Tom @ NOS set me up with. If anyone else has this problem in the future I can give you the part# and how I did it.
I've been getting all my help the last few years from this site and I'm glad to be able to contribute something back.

Steve, Please do fill us in on the repair. It is a fairly common problem.

I have pictures of tank repair but not sure how to post them.
I removed damaged part.
Drilled and tapped to 7/16-20
Changed thread on new fitting (NOS # R95-42) from 1/2 to 7/16-20
The rest is obvious and I hope this helps someone.
