Milled Cylinders

Hi there...have found a set of nice big twin cylinders,overall in good shape,dirt cheap.... but the top surface area on both has been milled right down,almost to the first fin......could these be used in any way,or just decoration....any ideas why some one would have don this.........thanks

If the valveseats are untouched , I'd say go!

Sounds like someone was wanting to play ""ricky racer",go fast on a budget. BREWSKI

It smells like someone has done some mixing of UL and VL bottom ends, rods and cylinders and the pistons have not reached far enough at top dead center. Also some replacement, maybe automotive, piston might have caused the milling job. I'm sure they will come to use one day.

Could be someone trying pop-up pistons to improve gas flow, but they would have had to provide clearance in the heads.
