New guy looking for some help about UL's

I'm going to look at some '48 UL cases this weekend andd was looking for a little advice anything to check seeing as this is the first motor I'll be working. Cracks/welds/repairs, and bad threads are the main things I'm thinking of. Numbers match, and they look real clean in the pics I was shown. Thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll be asking for more over this build.

You can get around any bad thread problems. Usual places for cracks are motor mounts, cam bushings, and generator stand.
The matching numbers on the bottom of the cases is all fine and well, but make absolutely SURE the ones on the VIN pad are clean and unmolested. If you're not sure try to post a good, high quality pic here and someone may be able to tell for sure.

Hello Justonefix.......I think on the 48`s the one belly number of the two should have the 4 hit twice(448-****)On a set i had a few years ago I thought this was suspicious,but apparently is original on 48`s.....
