Obviously, the choice is yours, but a pump small enough not to overload the original return capacity isn't much of an improvement (although the gerotor has smoother, less "pulsed" delivery and takes less power to turn). They could have used any thickness they wanted, so the modest capacity was a choice - meaning, if it's too small they won't sell any, and if too large there's no way to deal with the excess delivery volume without either a larger return pump, bypassing some of the feed directly back to the tank, or both.

Panic, something is not adding up. Search for "skirt oiling, again" on the forum. Frankestein referes to flow-messurements done by him self and by Jim. This indicates that the oem-pump is way smaler than the return pump capacity. Unless tests was done under false conditions? If this is not true, there is no point in the sportypump-conversion either, Have you got information on the oem-pump capacity that we have not seen?
