It's a three digit VIN......40UA3XX......did H-D ever make a three digit VIN in 1940? I don't believe so.......maybe I'm wrong....

I was in Europe when these came in and they were put on the shelf. I never got to inspect them until just a few weeks ago when I was going to sell them on eBay.

By way of observation, Your belly numbers were not stamped together with the same stamps. The 4 looks different and the 5's are obviously different.
