Coker tires?

Hi,

Hope someone here can help me. Well, I’m considering to buy, 400-18 COKER CLASSIC CYCLE DIAMOND TREAD, or a 400-18 FIRESTONE DELUXE CHAMPION BLACKWALL TIRE from the Coker company for my old Harley 1938. Does anybody here have a good experience with these classic tires?

My most important question is : Are these classics tires really safe enough in rainy weather, or are they slippery and not suitable for rainy weather. What material and rubber type is used in these tires?. Can someone here recommend these tires?.

If someone here have any helping experience and advise please let me know.

The diamond tread are the worst wearing tires Coker has, rears only last 3000 miles. The Firestone replicas are much better, both the A&S and the regulars have much better wear rates.

The Firestones are not correct reproductions and differ a lot from what the originals look like.

If you are worried about traction in rainy condition, you could use modern tires.
If you ride your bike the tires wear out anyway.

I use modern Dunlop tires now and it gives a nice ride in any condition.

are cokers D O T approved? last i checked i do not think they even have a speed rating on them.

i'm pretty happy with my avon safety mileage tires, they are full size and allow for cornering without touching the floor boards down.

I have classic dimond threads on one of my bikes and no problems with riding. They wear faster then an AVON for sure but I think they are better in the rain

Last I knew, cokers listed as " for display purposes only" that may be their loophole around the DOT

I'll stick to my Avon SM II's they are DOT approved. & are just fine for my purposes..wet/dry/ no problemo

Nothing against Coker products; they wear fast but evenly with regular riding

Gotta love the Avons SM Mk II (rear fitment) for a rider

I'm with HurtnDude on this; SM Mark 11 give good grip wet and dry whilst having an acceptable period profile. I've always used them on my 45's.

Avon Speedmaster 5.00"-16" is listed as rear tire use. I've used them on my Knuckles and Indians front and back for 20 yrs. great tire in worst weather. Don't seem to get many miles out of them though.
