Marrow Drive in Honor of David Bettencourt
You could save a life!
WHAT:
Marrow Event
The Friends and Family of David Bettencourt is hosting a drive to give local residents the opportunity to join the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) Registry. They hope to increase the number of individuals on the Registry and educate everyone about the critical need for marrow donors. The Friends and Family of David Bettencourt also hopes to encourage others to get involved in saving lives and making an impact throughout the community and the world.
WHO:
David Bettencourt is a 54 year old father of two young children, and lives in Middleboro. He is the proud owner of his family’s long-standing business, “Bettencourt’s Honda and Suzuki”, in West Bridgewater. Within the past year, David was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He is currently receiving frequent blood transfusions and chemotherapy treatments, in effort to keep his disease under control, until he can receive the life saving bone marrow transplant that he needs to survive.
WHY:
Throughout the years, David has been a good friend and neighbor to many people, as he has supported various charitable causes through generously donating goods from his business, his personal time, and/or funds. In addition to his charitable contributions, David’s generosity and kindness have enabled many people to realize their dreams to learn to ride, purchase, and/or race motorcycles and dirt bikes. It is not uncommon for David to sponsor up and coming riders and to even let them use his personal equipment to allow them to ride or race.
