Sportster® models 1987–'03 originally fitted with a constant velocity (CV) carb require conversion to butterfly style throttle cables to work with the S&S butterfly type carburetor. The throttle cables shown in the chart below are designed for this application. S&S Super E carb kits for 2004-'05 Sportster models are designed to accept the stock throttle cables.
