 S&S Cycle would like to congratulate Hector (&#8220;The Hammer&#8221;) Arana for a most impressive year at the NHRA.  Hector has driven his S&S powered motorcycle to five number one qualifying times, five final rounds, five NHRA Pro Stock wins and is sitting on top of the Pro Stock ladder race for the championship with 2420 points.  If that wasn&#8217;t remarkable enough, Arana set a new E.T. record of 6.851 on October 5th at the NHRA Memphis event. 
 When asked the secret of his success, Hector replied, &#8220;I bought a complete S&S powered motorcycle.  All of the work is done for you.  You just get on the bike, cut good lights, and drive straight.  The engines are so good; you can order a new one from S&S, put it in the bike and win the next race.  Arana makes Quickest Pass in Pro Stock Motorcycle History & Set New Record with his S&S Powered Pro Stock Motorcycle 6.851 ET @ 195.03 MPH at the National Hot Rod Association Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Memphis event. . . 
 
 While at NHRA Memphis last weekend, Hector Arana made the sub-national-record 6.851 ET run, the quickest in Pro Stock Motorcycle history.  He backed it up with a 6.88 ET on Monday to set the new record with the S&S powered Buell and left the event with a 28 point lead in the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Championship PSM standings with only two races to go.  (Viola, WI)  S&S Cycle Inc. announces the availability of a new 224 page hardcover book entitled S&S Cycle Presents Today&#8217;s Top Custom Bike Builders.  This book was written by former S&S Communications Manager, Howard Kelly, and features fabulous photographs by Michael Lichter with a forward by Jay Leno.  The book features the 50 custom bike builders who took part in 2008 S&S Cycle 50th celebration in LaCrosse, WI.   To commemorate S&S&#8217;s 50 years in the high performance business, S&S commissioned and challenged the 50 most notable custom bike builders in the world, to create their finest work ever using an S&S engine.  The chosen builders are some of the most creative and capable people in the industry, and the resulting motorcycles are as much art as machine.  Michael Lichter is, perhaps, the only photographer equal to the task of documenting the craftsmanship and vision of these master builders, and of course, he came through with these stellar photos.  S&S Cycle Inc. Announces a new promotional video for the Easy Start cams
 (Viola, WI) A new video promoting the new S&S Easy Start Cams for 1999-up Harley-Davidson&reg; big twins, is now available on the S&S website.  Click on this link to view the Easy Start Cranking Video and learn more about S&S Easy Start Cams. 
 What The Video Shows This video shows a direct comparison between what it takes to crank an engine with regular camshafts and with the new S&S Easy Start cams.  Two brand new, fully charged batteries are installed in two nearly identical bikes.  Both bikes have the same displacement, compression ratio, and cam timing, but one bike has S&S Easy Start cams.  The spark plug wires are pulled off both bikes so the engines wouldn&#8217;t start, and the starter buttons on both bikes are simultaneously depressed.  Before long, the bike with regular cams has a dead battery and stops cranking, but the bike with the Easy Start cams just keeps going.  The spark plug wires are put back on and the bike with Easy Start cams starts right up.  Proof positive that Easy Start cams live up to their name. 
 Here&#8217;s How They Work Each of the two exhaust cam lobes are equipped with a spring loaded compression release lever on the &#8220;heel&#8221; of the cam at the point where the valve would normally be fully closed.  The lever holds the exhaust valve open slightly at cranking speed. This releases some of the compression, making the engine much easier to crank. Once the engine starts, and rpm increases, the compression release lever is centrifugally retracted and the engine runs normally, with full compression, and without any loss in performance. This allows a stock starter and battery to start nearly any engine.  That can be especially good news to owners of custom bikes that are sometimes designed with fairly small batteries for appearance sake.
 S&S Easy Start cams are available for sale right now, but if your bike is hard to start, don&#8217;t delay, find an S&S Dealer near you.  Demand for these cams is strong, and supplies may be short until they are in full production.

 (Viola, WI) S&S Cycle Inc. of Viola, WI, one of the most respected names in the v-twin motorcycle high performance industry, announced that they have teamed up with Dynojet&reg; Research Inc of Las Vegas, NV, the leading manufacturer of dynamometers and fuel system tuning products.  The purpose of their co-operative effort is to provide their combined customer bases a new level of performance evaluation, tuning capability, and customer satisfaction.  Today&#8217;s high performance customer is much more tech-savvy.  They do their homework, they know what they want, and they realize that even the finest high performance components will not perform to their full potential without proper tuning.  S&S can make sure that customers receive the best performance products possible, and Dynojet can make sure they are getting the performance they paid for. 
 S&S Cycle has named Dynojet, the official chassis dynamometer of S&S cycle, and S&S recommends Power Commander&reg; tuning products for applications not covered by the S&S Variable Fuel Injection (VFI) products.  These include S&S performance kits for Victory&reg; motorcycles, metric motorcycles, off-road products, and some Harley-Davidson&reg; applications which are not compatible with VFI.  In addition, S&S will develop Power Commander maps for S&S performance products, and will post them on the S&S website for the convenience of their customers.  An area will also be provided for customers to post their own maps for evaluation purposes.  All future dyno testing for S&S promotional use will be performed on a Dynojet chassis dynamometer, to provide meaningful information to the thousands of motorcycle shops around the world who depend on Dynojet dynos to evaluate performance improvements for their customers.   S&S Sponsored Bagger Sets New SCTA Bonneville Record
 Chris Rivas piloted his official S&S Cycle sponsored entry in the Bonneville Speed Week August 8-14 on a Motorcycle that was built as a combined effort between S&S Cycle and Chris Rivas V-Twin in Fresno, CA.  The entry has also welcomed Carl Brouhard Designs, CP Pistons and Sagar Innovations to be a part of the effort.  Current Bonneville record holder and S&S Cycle's Engineering Manager Jeff Bailey, Steve Rominski, Rob Shopft as well as many other employees at S&S Cycle have been a key component with technical advice and engine parts configuration.  The SCTA requires that every driver make a rookie run on the first time down the salt which requires a minimum of speed 120 but not to exceed 150 mph, (previous class record was 146).  The big touring bike made so much power that when the first marker was in sight the speed was already 150 so the speed was maintained in order to complete the licensing phase of the weekend.  Much to the crews delight and just as planned the S&S cycle entry broke the record on the first rookie run &#8220;off the trailer&#8221;.  The next day Chris had to make the return run and went 153 in order to establish a new record at 152.197 mph.  After the final inspections were completed for the new record the decision was made to re-register for a different class APS-PG and put the good tune up in it.  The first run in the new class was timed at 158 mph, (previous record was 120).  The next day on the return run 161 mph was achieved in order to establish a new record at 159.620 mph.       &#8220;What a great experience, I think some of that salt got into my blood while I was out there&#8221;, said Chris Rivas.  So here is the countdown:  5  Sponsors to thank.. S&S Cycle, Carl Brouhard Designs, CP Pistons, Sagar Innovations, Chris Rivas V-Twin  4  Months of building  3  days of racing  2  records  1  Street driven Bagger (the new Worlds Fastest Bagger).  3000cc MPS-PG 152 MPH & 3000cc APS-PG 159 MPH.  A top speed of 164 was recorded in the middle of the course on a full dress Bagger with saddle bags, stereo and cruise control, now that is proven performance! One of the simplest and most cost effective ways to do that is to install a low restriction, high performance air cleaner.  In this case it&#8217;s also one of the coolest looking ways to do it. 
 
 The S&S air cleaner kit features the classic cool of the traditional S&S teardrop shaped cover, and the performance increase that has come to be associated with it.
 
  The dyno shows that installing the air cleaner alone delivers an increase of about one peak horsepower and over a foot/pound of peak torque.  However at higher rpm, the increase is somewhat greater.  Keep in mind that in order to fully realize the benefits of a performance air cleaner, a performance exhaust should also be installed.  S&S Cycle Announces Price Reductions
 Viola, WI (July 2, 2009) S&S Cycle announces a reduction in price for two of their premium products, the S&S high performance clutch, and the S&S single bore tuned induction kits.  
 &#8220;We know these are both excellent products, and that they are superior to just about anything on the market.  We believe this price reduction will allow more customers to  see just how good they really are.&#8221;  Said Director of Business Development and Sales, Michael Scaletta.  &#8220;S&S Cycle has always been known for big, powerful engines, but people just don&#8217;t think of us for clutches . . .Yet.&#8221;  
 
   
 The S&S high performance clutch features 10 steel plates and 11 friction plates to increase the number of friction surfaces available.  The S&S clutch comes with a spring set that allows the clutch to handle up to 140 horsepower, with clutch lever pull that is equivalent to stock.  Stronger springs are available for applications up to 200 horsepower.  The S&S clutch is available for 1991-&#8217;06 big twins, except 2006 Dyna&reg; models.  The suggested retail price for these clutches has been reduced by a whopping $200.00.  MSRP for the mechanically actuated versions was $899.95, but they are now priced at $699.95.  The hydraulically actuated versions were $949.95 MSRP, and are now $749.95.  
 
  
 S&S single bore tuned induction kits have also been reduced in price so that MSRP on a complete system is under $500.00.  Some applications are as low as $385.00.  In addition, ordering has been simplified with a single part number.  Customers simply specify model and year of the motorcycle, the preferred finish of the intake runners, and the desired color of the filters.  Not only does the aggressive styling of the tuned induction kits look great, the tuned induction improves performance across the rpm range, with a real boost in the midrange.  
 
   
 Director of Product management Charlie Hadayia Jr. had this to say &#8220;The classic teardrop air cleaner has been and image associated with S&S Cycle since 1975, but the S&S tuned induction kits look so good and perform so well, that they may become another classic S&S image in time.  We&#8217;re sure that the new lower price for the S&S tuned runner and the S&S clutch will encourage customers to give them a try!&#8221;
