TITLE: Director of Marketing
DEPARTMENT: Sales & Marketing
REPORTS TO: CEO
JOB SUMMARY:
A visible marketing leader who will be able to design and implement marketing programs. He or she will be responsible for generating revenue and establishing and executing multi-channel sales programs. The primary focus is on North America but an additional opportunity exists for this individual to take on responsibility for International which is 20% of company sales.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive profitable revenue by developing and executing marketing programs in multi-channels – Dealer, Distributor, and Consumer levels
- Manage marketing costs to appropriate and agreed upon levels (budget) that achieve corporate financial objectives; prepare annual marketing expense budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective action
- Participate in pricing and product decisions, particularly as they relate to the development or execution of Marketing programs
- Must have the ability to envision and execute an appropriate marketing presence for the company that highlights our products, history and quality in the best way possible to further expand our market share through trade media
- Strengthen our network of independent dealers, via support programs, (e.g., posters, displays, product packaging) and co-marketing programs (e.g., clinics, regional shows, etc.)
- Responsibility for variety of catalogs
- Organize and oversee the company’s presence at conventions, trade shows and seminars
- Provide short and long-term market forecasts and reports thorough market research, analysis, and interpretation of data
- Establish and maintain positive morale amongst employees within this person’s scope of responsibility
- Represent the Marketing function within the company by establishing and maintaining credibility throughout the organization and with the Board of Directors as an effective developer of solutions and business strategy
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong leader with 8-10 years of marketing experience in the power sports, sporting equipment, automotive aftermarket, tools or related industries
- Energetic, can do attitude with a demonstrated capability to lead by example
- An understanding of 2-step distribution and independent dealer based businesses
- Creative and forward-thinking, with high ethical standards
- Well organized and self-directed
- Able to relate to people at all levels and functions within the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information and ideas and serve as a mentor
